A full fun day of tweeting our blurbs, favorite lines and whatever.
So fellow Roses, here's how it works:
1st, post your blurb or longer favorite lines or whatever to your blog or website.
2nd, decide what line you want to tweet. Can't be longer than 140 characters, but I'd go even shorter like 120 in case someone wants to add something like: gr8 cover! or luv this one!
3rd, make sure you add the #TWRP hashtag within the message so we can all find each other and readers will also see it and hopefully join in and look for others.
(Other hashtags you can use are #favlines #blurbs #makeupyourown or use your specific genre hashtags. I might use #fantasy #romance #ya #youngadult or #paranormal
Here's an example of mine:
#TWRP #favlines "Cal. Don't move." Cal glanced up and into the barrel of his older brother's shotgun. ~C the pretty boy cover http://www.amazon.com/Demon-Trackers-Anointed-ebook/dp/B0057PHJQ6/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_4
Except, wait a minute. That tweet is long and clunky once I added the url to amazon. So I need to shorten that.
Here's how to shorten long urls. Highlight the url. Control C to copy it.
Next go to bitly.com or tinyurl.com and paste (Control V) the long url into the "shorten links" box. Press "shorten" and voila, the long url link is now a short url link. Copy and paste that into your message line.
Now here's how my tweet message will look:
#TWRP #favlines. "Cal. Don't move." Cal glanced up and into the barrel of his older brother's shotgun.~ C the pretty boy cover http://amzn.to/oLvK2L
If you click on both the long and short links, you'll see they both take you to the same place. (And while you're there if you want to like and tag my new book I'll be thrilled--did I just do an advertisement? Yes, I believe I did.)
4rd, now you're ready to tweet. On the 13th, send your message out into the T-verse. Make sure to add your #TWRP hashtag. Then type that hashtag into your twitter searchbar or you can also hover over that hashtag on your own message or anyone else's, press enter, and it will take you to an entire list of tweeters using our #TWRP hashtag.
5th, On Weds, Retweet any of the messages that catch your eye. (Hover the mouse over the message and the reply and retweet boxes will appear) If there's room add a message of your own along with. Also if you feel like it, follow their links and comment on their blogs, or like and tag their amazon pages, or whatever. Generally, just spread the love.
It's gonna be a great day.
Leave any questions you have in the comment box and feel free to reblog this and get the word out. I'll even make an "addtoany" share button to make it easy.

Thanks for the great post, Clover. I'm excited to participate, and you taught me exactly how to do it!

Good. Glad it was understandable. I'm just getting used to these hashtags and whatnot myself.
I just learned there's a faster way to get a short URL on Amazon. On the right side, under the buy this or sample box, scroll way down and you'll find a "share" button (next to FB and Twitter widgets). Click on the share button and voila, Amazon gives you a short URL.
Awesome Diana. I'm going to go try that right now. I wonder if it's even shorter than tiny or bitly. But it's only good for the amazon page, I assume. Great tool to know.
Thanks for coordinating, Clover. And while I was here, I liked and tagged your book and I'm now following your blog. This sounds like a great way to generate free publicity.See you #Wed#TWRP...ok, just trying to get the hang of this tweeting thing. lol!
Awesome Lily, thanks. I'll go do the same for you.
And Diana, just tried the amazon short link and the bitly one is still shorter, so depending on how many characters your tweet is, you can go with either.
What a great idea!
Sounds GR8!
Thanks for all the easy instrucktions.
Demon Trackers sounds really good. It's on my wishlist. :) I love the guy's green eyes on the book cover, too. :)
Can't wait until Wed. I'm learning so much about Twitting.
It's actually really easy--yet a time sucker as well. Hee.
Thanks Clover!!!
Wow - this is really taking off!! Will be with you girls on Weds. And thanks for the info on URL shortening.
Mimi
You're welcome Amy. And Mimi, we owe it all to you. Excellent idea.
Great idea. Didn't know about the Amazon short link. The hashtags on twitter are certainly worth using. I read somewhere that it's advisable to use hashtags on every tweet, although that might be overkill :)
This is a great idea, Clover. I'm just trying to figure out how I can join in other than retweeting because I have a guest on my blog that day so I can't put up an excerpt. Would sending them to my website work?
Tricia you're right about hashtags. I've only been using them a few weeks and my interaction has doubled.
Paty, send a link to wherever you'd like. I'm actually planning on using a short first line and then linking it to my amazon buy page for this Weds. Might do something cuter on the following Weds if I come up with something. (Or send them to your guest's post--nothing wrong with that either)
I won't be anywhere near a computer that day, but hopefully this can be done again in the future and I can participate then.
Have a great day everyone!
Think we're gonna make it a once a month thing . . .
This is a great idea! And thanks for the #hashtag suggestions. I still have a difficult time remembering to add them. :)
Yeah, I'm just getting the hang of hashtags myself, but they sure are fun. Used 1k1h today and found myself writing 1000 words in a hour along side another writer whose books I love like we were best buddies. That was way cool.
Thank you, Clover, for the great directions. I just signed up for an account this morning and have a feeling it's going to be a painful learning process. This is a huge help! :D
This is amazing. I'm a WR author, with my next release, Marrying Cade, out on 13th! I've already planned a comprehensive blog campaign for it, with a twitter element for that day! My campaign features 10 blogs featuring excerpts. Each blog has the title #marryingcadewave, which feeds into a twitter hashtag #marryingcadewave. The idea is that readers can click on the link at the bottom of each post to go to the next site, and tweet it as they go, building a mexican wave of interest!
I'll certainly link in to the twitter thing going on with the WRP, and would be grateful if any authors might check out my #marryingcadewave on the day too!
Leah, it really is easy once you understand what hashtags are. You'll be "wasting" all your writing hours w/ twitter in no time. *grins*
Sally, that's such a creative idea using #marryingcadewave with your blog tour. I love it! Will probably "borrow" that idea in the future. Hee. I'll be sure to check it out Weds!
Awesome idea! Maybe I'll finally get someone to read my blog. ;)
I didn't realize how cluesless I was when it comes to Twitter until now. So thanks for all the help. I will be there with you all on Wednesday.
Crystal, I know, drawing people over is difficult. I'm just getting back into blogging after a lot hiatus with my son's illness. I'll go over to your blog. I'll even follow it.
Cool, Rebecca, we'll c/ya on Weds!
Want to follow your blog and also want to take part in the tweeting, but my book is out yet. Still okay to add my tweet? Sounds like fun.
Of course Velda, tweet away. Send us over to a blog post or something! Give us an excerpt or blurb of your upcoming book or WIP. It's a free-for-all. Do what you want and just have fun.
Looking forward to joining in on the fun.

NOT AN ANGEL, OUT NOW!
Can't wait, Dawn
I've never used Twitter, but these are such wonderfully clear instructions that maybe even I could do it. :)
Heh, Regina. When I write instructions I think about how I don't know anything and need others to be as simple and clear as possible...
Thanks Clover! One question- you mentioned 'adding' to a tweet. I haven't found how to do that yet on Twitter. I know you can on Tweetdeck, but every time I tried tweetdeck it messed my computer up, so I don't use it anymore. Is there another way on Twitter to add to a retweet?
Even with these wonderful instructions this will be a challenge for me, but I will try. Thanks so much.
Calisa, you're right, you can't add things to a retweet. My bad. You'd have to copy and paste and then send out as a new tweet to add anything.
Beth, *grins* I've seen you around twitter in action. You'll be fine.
Great idea! Can't wait to participate. Thanks for explaining things, Clover. :)
Thank you for the step by step. I'm going to try it out.
Eliza March
Great idea and really hard work get ting this together, Clover. Does this include The Wilder Roses, too?
Of course, Desiree. All Roses. Hopefully readers will interact as well.
